Fantasy Football Rankings: Fantasy Focus Week 12
I couldn’t pull off two weeks in a row, the competition is just too tight. A lot of the time we’re all just so close with our picks that it’s a point or two separating important slots. I kicked some fantasy rankings ace with QBs and WRs but leaving out Peyton Hillis killed me on the running back front, and my 5th ranking in team defense (only by a point) ended my winning streak at 1. Yeah, not much of a streak. Josh got first (again) and Papa got back in the game with a strong 2nd place finish. Nate got 4th and Ryan put up four 5th place position rankings to secure 5th. Not too shabby Red! Hey, we’ve all been there, bub! Here’s the REVIEW!
(Papa wants to let you know, if you want some old-school bad-ass fantasy advice, send him emails to….. PAPAWEIMER50@HOTMAIL.COM)
Elite Starters: Guys picked early that I love this week, looking for Top 5 at their position. D
- Peyton Manning – He threw touchdowns, but 4 interceptions didn’t help things. F
- Phillip Rivers – Ultimate backfire – the Chargers put up defensive touchdowns and Rivers and his pass-happy bunch turned into “run the clock out” offense. Yikes. F
- Ray Rice- 8th overall with 19 fantasy points, the Ravens are leaning on him more as the season winds down. Good for 8th. B+
- Chris Johnson – Yikes. Injured. Shut down. Whatever you want to call it. Yikes. F
- Rashard Mendenhall– Tied with Rice for 8th, 19 points, keeps plugging away. B+
Solid Starters: Guys picked in middle rounds that should outplay their ranking/draft position this week. A-
- Brandon Lloyd– 23 points… That marks the 6th time he has gone over 20… Awesome. A+
- Peyton Hillis– BEAST! 43 points led the league. How’d I leave him out of my rankings? DUMB!!! A+++
- Mario Manningham– 3 grabs, 61 yards and a touchdown. Not bad, not amazing. B
- Steve Johnson- 13 points for Johnson, but he probably could have given Dwayne Bowe a run (lie, he couldn’t have, Bowe had 48, but still)- Steve dropped 5 balls I think, and one of them was a gift TD in overtime to win the game. Tough one for a guy that’s really been great all year. C-
- Tom Brady – He was ranked 7th or 8th, I said he’d be Top 3. He was #1. HUGE day for Brady. A+++
Sleeper Starters: Guys ranked low, drafted low or falling off the charts, but I still like them this week… C
- Mike Tolbert– Big Mike in the Wood (great movie reference) took his bowling ball game to the bank, ran out the clock and downed the Colts in Indy – tied for 8th with 19 points. A
- Ronnie Brown – Not a great fantasy day, but in a non-ppr he was solid, his highest rushing total in a while – if they keep leaning on the run, he could be fantasy worthy again. C-
- Keiland Williams– He caught 4 balls, but of course Shanny thought it would be a better idea to get recently signed James Davis more carries than Williams…. Fail. F
- Brandon Jacobs – 14 carries for 87 yards, absolutely no reason to stop running, but the Giants almost did it to try and lose the game. No TD for Jacobs, so just 8 points. C
- Matt Cassel– Beasted the Hawks, or he threw it to Bowe who beasted the Hawks for 4 TDs – either way, great day for Cassel. A+
Super Sleepers: Undrafted guys that are usually unowned, but in a pinch put ‘em in coach! C+
- Jimmy Graham– Just 3 catches for 25 yards. Blah. D-
- Shaun Hill– He had the Lions tied going into the 4th – he didn’t play well in the 4th, but he still finished 14th with 15 fantasy points. B+
- BenJarvus Green-Ellis – Another touchdown for BJGE, he no longer qualifies as a super sleeper. 14th back overall. A+
- Brett Favre – I took a chance, it backfired – they won, but it wasn’t a pretty performance. No TOs though. D-
- Nate Burleson – Dropped passes killed him, I think he had two huge ones. Not nothing, but nothing worth giving myself a good grade over. C-
Sit ‘Em Son: I don’t care where they were drafted, I don’t like these guys starting this week… D+
- Fred Jackson –He didn’t run all that well, but he played tough, and he caught a big screen pass that he took the distance for a Top 5 day amongst RBs. WRONG! F-
- Lance Moore– He had a nice day, scored a big one late, I was wrong again. Boo. F
- Joe Flacco– 21 points for Flacco, good for 9th – I thought they’d run it more, but he threw it well. F
- Carson Palmer– 26th QB this week, 7 points – you’re welcome. A+
- Cedric Benson– 5 points for Benson, I lost in the league I played him in. A+

Who could we have MISSED?
QB: Matt Cassel: He was 2nd to only Tom Terrific. I really wanted to, but I didn’t want to take the chance of missing out on a big day from a guy like Rodgers or Brees… Should have gone with my gut, but I guess I took QB rankings anyway.
RB: Mike Goodson: We all loved him as a pick-up, but none of us thought he’d catch 8 balls for 80+ yards. This kid has been good enough to let DeAngelo walk I imagine.
WR: Jacoby Ford: If you get return TDs, and we do, then Ford was 2nd to only Dwayne Bowe. Dude is too fast.
TE: Billy Bajema: Sam Bradford finds a new guy every week, this time it was Billy. He finished 3rd but just a point behind Tamme and Witten.
DEF: Chargers: We should have known that history was on the side of San Diego, they always chew up Peyton and spit him out.

Fantasy Football Rankings: Fantasy Focus Week 11
Week 11 saw me grab a title again. Whew, I thought I was losing it – haha. Papa still can’t seem to get on track, but I’m back in business. Josh and Ryan finished in a tie for 3rd while Nate came in 4th. Papa will be back though, no matter how many birthdays seem to pass him by, he’s always there – and you know his advice is killing it as always…
(Papa wants to let you know, if you want some old-school bad-ass fantasy advice, send him emails to PAPAWEIMER50@HOTMAIL.COM)
Here’s the Fantasy Focus Review for Week 11…
Elite Starters: Guys picked early that I love this week, looking for Top 5 at their position. C
- Michael Vick – Just 19 points for Mike, not great (just 13th amongst QBs) but he continues to be solid and just under 20 ain’t bad at all. B-
- Chris Johnson – 130 yards rushing but no scores, he ended up with 15 fantasy points. Pretty blah. C-
- Peyton Hillis- 25 points, 4th amongst RBs. This guy is as sure as sheep…. or is that sheer as sheep? A+
- Jamaal Charles – Just 12 carries for 88 yards, and 4 caches for 38… Why would he not get at least 20 touches? C
- Calvin Johnson– 16 points for CJ, he’s a beast, but a mediocre day for him. C-
Solid Starters: Guys picked in middle rounds that should outplay their ranking/draft position this week. C-
- Brandon Lloyd– 19 more points – keep adding them up, when you’re done you’ll see he’s just about better than everyone else at the position not named Roddy White. A-
- Kyle Orton– Orton looked great on the first drive, and after that it was trouble. Bad pick here. D-
- Felix Jones– Jones got nicked up a little against Detroit, slowing him down and giving the other backs more looks – he ended with just 9 points. D
- Cedric Benson- 21 points for Benson in one of his best games of the season. A
- Randy Moss – F
Sleeper Starters: Guys ranked low, drafted low or falling off the charts, but I still like them this week… B
- Mark Sanchez– 30 points for SanCHEZ and while it was a big week for QBs he still ranked 8th. A+
- Vince Young – Got hurt. Then got fired by his coach. Then got “out for the year” – in that order. D-
- Steve Johnson– 39 fantasy points, he’s a beast, 2nd only to Greg Jennings’ 40 point day. A+++
- Marion Manningham – He wasn’t as good as I thought he’d be, but I bet he has a nice day next week. D-
- Thomas Jones – He didn’t quite get 20 carries, but 15 gave him 70+ yards and two touchdowns. A+
Super Sleepers: Undrafted guys that are usually unowned, but in a pinch put ‘em in coach! A-
- Colt McCoy– 16 points for Colt despite not finishing the game healthy. He’s a warrior, but I expected even more out of him against the Jags. B
- BenJarvus Green-Ellis– 16 points for BJGE and finished in the Top 20, he’s about as consistent as any fantasy player in New England is outside of Mr. Brady. A
- Mike Tolbert– 23 big ones for Big Mike ranking him 8th and making owners smile. A
- Danny Amendola – Owned in less than 25% of leagues and he has another great day. Top 15 guy. A+++
- Mohamed Massaquoi – 4 grabs for 52 yards, could be worse than 9 points. B-
Sit ‘Em Son: I don’t care where they were drafted, I don’t like these guys starting this week… B-
- Mike Williams (Sea)–Had a great day despite missing a lot of it with injuries. I was wrong here. F
- Lance Moore– Reggie didn’t come back, but Moore still only had 7 points. Hopefully you listened. A
- Roy Williams– 4 points, so much for that great match-up, eh? You’re welcome! A+
- Donovan McNabb– 19 points for McNabb, all in garbage time, but fantasy doesn’t care. D
- Darren McFadden– He’s lucky he caught 2 balls for 16 yards because 10 rushes for 14 yards and 1 fantasy point really sounds bad! You’re welcome! A++

Week 10 Fantasy Football: Fantasy Focus REVIEW
November 18, 2010 by luckylester · Leave a Comment
Fantasy Football Rankings: Fantasy Focus Week 10
This was the closest Fantasy Focus competition of all time. Not only were the points close in just about every category, but the final writer rankings came down to a point on defense. That’s right, if Papa gets one more point defensively than it would have bee a 5 way tie for 1st place. As it is, that point PW didn’t get busted his bank and got him 5th. Arse, Nate, and myself tied for 2nd place while Ryan benefited most from Papa’s defensive failure, taking home the prize for Week 10. Here’s how the rest of the week went down.
Elite Starters: Guys picked early that I love this week, looking for Top 5 at their position. B+
- Arian Foster – The Texans play calling is atrocious. Foster had just 16 touches, he still managed double digits with a short rushing TD – but somebody fire the guy calling plays – hurry. C-
- Chris Johnson – His 117 yards and a score were good for 18 points and 12th overall. Not bad. B
- Michael Vick- Best QB day all year, for anyone. Vick is playing amazing. A++
- Jamaal Charles – He didn’t get his 25 carries, but he still had 23 points, good for 6th amongst RBs. A-
- Andre Johnson– His 29 fantasy points were good for 4th amongst WRs. Beast. A
Solid Starters: Guys picked in middle rounds that should outplay their ranking/draft position this week. C
- Eli Manning– 21 points for Eli got him in the Top 10 and the Giants got smashed – a win-win for me! A
- DeSean Jackson– DeSean had an 88 yard TD on the first play of the game. He didn’t do much after that, but his 17 points were good for a Top 20 performance. B
- LeSean McCoy– 20 points for LeSean in a Top 10 performance for the Eagles. A
- Cedric Benson- Very disappointed here, either Benson has lost it or the run blocking has turned into a pile. The Colts aren’t good against the run, yet Benson did nothing. F
- Ryan Fitzpatrick– He was a low-point scorer this week in Buffalo’s win. D-
Sleeper Starters: Guys ranked low, drafted low or falling off the charts, but I still like them this week… B+
- Steve Johnson–Just 3 catches for 37 yards against Detroit, surprising. D-
- Marshawn Lynch – Lynch scored, thank goodness, because his rushing numbers were bad. Finished with 13 points, not too bad. B
- Mike Williams– 25 fantasy points, 11 catches for 145 yards. Tied for 8th. A+
- Marion Manningham – 25 points, good for 8th overall – hurry, get him! A+
- Derek Anderson – He didn’t have a terrible fantasy day, scoring 16 points, finishing in a tie for 17th. B
Super Sleepers: Undrafted guys that are usually unowned, but in a pinch put ‘em in coach! C
- Mike Goodson–Goodson had 100 yards rushing in a nice day for the Panthers young RB. B+
- Tim Hightower– Finished with 13 fantasy points, a nice last minute fill in! B+
- Blair White– Blair didn’t play. F
- Bernard Berrian – Berrian hurt himself in warm-ups. Didn’t play. F
- Shaun Hill – Hill’s 15 points helped a lot of teams that were looking to throw a guy in at the last minute. He ended up being a lot better option than Chad Pennington – ha. B
Sit ‘Em Son: I don’t care where they were drafted, I don’t like these guys starting this week… D
- Jon Kitna–Wrong again! Kitna finished with 24 points, just a spot out of the Top 5. F
- Chad Ochocinco– Chad played really well after princessing up last week. It was nice to see, but I was wrong… Tough week for my ‘sit ‘em’ category. F
- Roy Williams– 2 catches, 33 yards. He’s the 5th option in Dallas, at best. A
- Dwayne Bowe– Whoops… Only one of the biggest fantasy days of any WR all season long. Shoot. Sorry! F-
- Randy Moss– 1 catch, 26 yards – I think it only goes up from here. But sitting him was a good move. A
***Sometimes losers prosper – like in fantasy football – Mike Wallace, Matt Cassel, Dwayne Bowe, come on down!***

Who did we MISS?
QB: Matt Cassel: Matt took advantage of getting destroyed by the Bills. The Chiefs threw a ton late and the Broncos sat in a prevent. Cassel finished with 33 points, about 20 points behind Mike Vick for 2nd place.
RB: Keiland Williams: Williams’ 35 fantasy points led the positions. Fred Jackson finished 2nd with 33, having easily his best game of the season, leading the Bills out of the winless category – their first win of the season. Knowshon Moreno did well, ranking 5th.
WR: Dwayne Bowe: Bowe continues to impress, scoring a couple times and raking in 43 fantasy point in the Chiefs blowout loss. But I was almost right about Roddy White: we were all too scared to put him in, fearing injury woes, and he came in and dominated the Ravens with 37 fantasy points. Mike Wallace also had a big day in a Steelers blowout loss. Losers prosper in fantasy!
TE: Rob Gronkowski: Why didn’t we see this coming? I mean why wouldn’t the Patriots basically bench their leading receiver (TE Aaron Hernandez) and throw three touchdown passes to Rob Gronkowski? Silly us. Rob led all TEs. 2nd place goes to Jermaine Gresham, he had a great 4th quarter to get 22 points. Anthony Fasano caught a big TD in the Dolphins win over Tennessee – and he ended up 3rd. Kevin Boss was 4th. Kellen Winslow was 5th. In fact, we didn’t get anybody in the Top 7.
DEF: Colts: The Colts should have been an options. Palmer always has lots of pressure on him, and he throws interceptions like it’s his job. This (unlike TE) was a mistake on our parts.
2010 Week 9 Fantasy Football: Fantasy Focus REVIEW

Fantasy Football Rankings: Fantasy Focus Week 9
Alright I followed through with last week’s claim and took first place – now I’m sharing it with Arse this week, but only because I think he’s a great guy and he’s stuck up in the darkness of Alaska right now – using flashlights to read in the middle of the day, and shining sun bulbs in his house just to keep the happy warm feeling flowing (and he tied my rankings, so he earned it). Here’s how the focus went down.
(Papa wants to let you know, if you want some old-school bad-ass fantasy advice, send him emails to PAPAWEIMER50@HOTMAIL.COM)
Elite Starters: Guys picked early that I love this week, looking for Top 5 at their position. B+
- Peyton Manning – Peyton was 18th amongst QBs – so he got me good. D-
- Adrian Peterson – AP was 2nd amongst RBs with 30 points. A+
- Hakeem Nicks- #4 WR this week, doing work against the puny Hawks secondary! A
- Antonio Gates – All time backfire, AG finally sat one out, BLAST! F
- Phillip Rivers– #1 Fantasy QB in Week 9! 27 big ones in a 4pt TD league. A+
Solid Starters: Guys picked in middle rounds that should outplay their ranking/draft position this week. B+
- Terrell Owens– #1 Fantasy Player with 36 points. Who would have thought he’d greatly out-produce Ocho? Oh, I know, ME! A+
- Greg Jennings– 21 fantasy points got him 10th place amongst WRs. A
- LeSean McCoy– Tied for 17th amongst RBs, one big run, not much else. C
- Matt Forte- Out of the Top 20 with just 10 fantasy points. Blah. C-
- Eli Manning – 23 points had him good for 5th QB overall, tied with his fellow NY starter, sanCHEZ. A+
Sleeper Starters: Guys ranked low, drafted low or falling off the charts, but I still like them this week… B-
- Steve Johnson–11 grabs for 145 made him #7 amongst WRs. A+
- LeGarrette Blount – 13 carries for 46 yards and Blount couldn’t get the big one as the Falcons held his 4th and goal attempt from the 1 to win the game. D-
- Jacob Tamme–#1 Fantasy TE in Clark’s absence. You bet. A+
- BenJarvus Green-Ellis -Just 1 fantasy point this week, killin’ me BJGE. F
- Davone Bess – double digits again, 5 grabs for 50 yards. 30th WR. B
Super Sleepers: Undrafted guys that are usually unowned, but in a pinch put ‘em in coach! B
- Jon Kitna–Just 9 points, the Cowboys were horrible. D
- Jordy Nelson– 4 grabs for 42 yards, his buddy had a big day, still 8 points from a fill-in ain’t bad at all. B-
- James Jones– 26 fantasy points, 4th WR overall. A+
- Patrick Crayton – 3 grabs for 72 yards, not too shabby. B
- Ben Watson – 1 catch for 24 yards, but his Browns beat his old team. Good for him, but doesn’t help me any. D-
Sit ‘Em Son: I don’t care where they were drafted, I don’t like these guys starting this week… C
- Carson Palmer–Actually played much better than I figured, all in the 2nd half (or 4th quarter) but I was wrong. 15 points good for 14th overall. D+
- Jahvid Best– He ended up the 15th best RB, with 13 fantasy points, 16 carries for 48 and 5 grabs for 40 – not too bad at all. D+
- Roy Williams– 1 catch. 6 yards. A+
- Mike Williams (SEA)– Had a TD catch bounce off his mitts and he was eaten up by the Giants D all day long. A
- Cedric Benson– Had 50+ yards rushing 20 on 2 grabs receiving, and scored a TD – not bad at all. Good for 10th RB in Week 9. F
***”Phillip Rivers, no receivers, no problem.***
Finally, 1st place – though it was bitter sweet as it was only a tie for first – but hey, I’ll take what I can get! Arse knows his stuff!

Who we MISSED!
QB: Matthew Stafford – Mark Sanchez: Before going down, Stafford had a big day for the Lions, connecting on 2 TDs and running for 1, he was 4th overall with 24 points. Sanchez was just a point behind him, so I was right about Mark. He did most all his damage in the 2nd half – but a nice day for the young Cali-boy.
RB: Brandon Jackson: We didn’t do too shabby, Jackson was tied for 6th with 22 points. Mendenhall 21 points – 8th and Ronnie Brown 20 points – 9th, also had nice days.
WR: Jacoby Ford, Seyi Ajirotutu, James Jones, DeSean Jackson, Steve Johnson: Ford went nuts, especially if you have kick return yardage at all. Still a Top 8 no matter which way your league scores. Seyi was Rivers’ top target catching 2 scores and going for 2nd or 3rd amongst WRs. James Jones had 26 points. And DeSean Jackson and Steve Johnson both finished with 25 fantasy points.
TE: Randy McMichael: Most of us thought Gates would play, so that makes sense for how we picked up a 0 and how McMichael went un-ranked as Gates’ back-up.
DEF: Cardinals: Odd that nobody would play the Cards despite all the turnovers Brett and the Vikings had been tallying – oh well, our defenses actually had a pretty good week. The Cardinals were 3rd overall in our league.
Week 8 Fantasy Football REVIEW: Fantasy Focus

Fantasy Football Rankings: Fantasy Focus Week 8
Nate joined the group and came up just short, finishing 2nd in his first run at the Fantasy Focus title. Who won it? Give it to Red-Red-Ryan to follow his red hair (and no first place position rankings) to his 2nd title in a row. Nice work, Red. Here’s the review.
(Papa wants to let you know, if you want some old-school bad-ass fantasy advice, send him emails to PAPAWEIMER50@HOTMAIL.COM)!
Elite Starters: Guys picked early that I love this week, looking for Top 5 at their position. B
- Peyton Manning – Well, he finished 4th – 22 fantasy points for the king of consistency. A-
- Arian Foster- 1st overall with 31 fantasy points, and if Gary Kubiak knew what was good for his job, he would have given Foster the ball 15 more times. A+
- Reggie Wayne – With Dallas and Austin hurting, Wayne gets just a few more targets – lucky owners.
- Adrian Peterson – 25 big ones for AP – he’s just too big of a beast to stop. A
- Brandon Marshall– Marshall didn’t flop (read below) but he wasn’t as efficient as I expected. C
- RANDY MOSS- The Vikings didn’t throw Randy’s way often, and then they waived him – Brad Childress is a donkey punch to his own face. Randy wasn’t a great (6th) option for me, should have stuck with the old 5. F
Solid Starters: Guys picked in middle rounds that should outplay their ranking/draft position this week. B-
- Terrell Owens– TO has another big day and the Bengals lose. But at least TO is getting his, and thus he’s quiet. I’m not TO hater, but I’m just saying. Get that TO? I’m just saying… A
- Ryan Torain– Torain was bottled up by the Lions. 10 yards on 9 carries is gross. He managed to get 24th amongst RBs because of 3 catches for 19 yards and a big TD. C-
- Felix Jones– When you can’t run against the Jags, it might be time to do something different. Felix had 8 carries for 22 yards, just 6 total fantasy points. F
- Miles Austin- Top 15, not a bad day even though Austin dropped a couple balls that seemingly started the case of the dropsies amongst Dallas receivers. B
- Pierre Garcon – Top 20 with 14 fantasy points. No TDs, but a nice productive day with lots of targets – that should mean many happy returns to come. B
Sleeper Starters: Guys ranked low, drafted low or falling off the charts, but I still like them this week… A-
- Marshawn Lynch – I traded for Lynch, I reaped the 9 carries for 7 yard 0-point fantasy benefits. Ugh….. F-
- Jamaal Charles – His 27 points were 2nd best on Sunday. A+
- Brandon Lloyd–29 fantasy points put him at 2nd amongst WRs. A+
- Beanie Wells – Beanie had 16 carries for 50 yards and a touchdown. Not great, but a solid play for those that went with the big Ohio State product. B+
- Mike Williams (TB) – Oh silly fantasy owners. Mike Williams, still owned in about half of fantasy leagues, went for 20 fantasy points in Week 8. A+
Super Sleepers: Undrafted guys that are usually unowned, but in a pinch put ‘em in coach! B+
- Jon Kitna– 14 fantasy points ranked him 16th and a solid pick-up for you if you needed one. If 3 of his receivers didn’t drop passes that turned into interceptions, Kitna would have been at least 10 points better – but those are the breaks. B+
- Davone Bess– 11 more fantasy points for Bess, he jumped into the starting role and this made it 6 double digit fantasy games out of the 7 he’s played in. B+
- Steve Johnson–Steve is getting recognized, and reasonably so, he scored for a 5th straight game on Sunday, and finished with 14 fantasy points. A-
- Patrick Crayton – 4 catches for 46 yards, as Crayton gets you those guaranteed 8 fantasy points. B-
- LeGarrette Blount- 5th RB with 24 fantasy points. It’s time to roll with Blount, not roll a blunt… come on now. A+
Sit ‘Em Son: I don’t care where they were drafted, I don’t like these guys starting this week… A+
- Brandon Jackson–55 yards on 15 carries, 2 grabs for 17 yards. I must say, I killed it this week with my sit-’em-son section. A-
- Reggie Bush– Didn’t play, but I’ll take the 0 points here. Ha. N/A
- Kenny Britt– Britt had zero, and while he didn’t play much, he did play. His injury made me look great, but I’ll take it anyway! A+
- Mike Williams (SEA)– 1 catch for 27 yards. Hopefully you listened. A+
- Matt Hasselbeck– I said 12 points or less, outside the Top 20 – well, Hass finished with 4 points overall and 29th – worse among starting QBs. A+
***Getting sick sucks aces***
5 guys makes it feel worse when you lose, I was the first one to take home 5th place – ever… Yikes. Up and at ‘em for next week, congrats Red-Red-Ryan!

Who did we MISS?
QB: David Garrard: Garrard straight torched the Dallas Cowboys to a crisp they just can’t recover from – I don’t think it’s even possible. DG went off for 5 total TDs (4 passing, 1 running) as he damn near didn’t miss on a throw. 38 big ones for DG and we all missed him. Jason Campbell also went off against the Hawks, going for 24 fantasy points and over 300 yards through the air.
RB: BenJarvus Green-Ellis: The straight ahead back for the Pats continued his fantasy relevance with the 3rd best day of the week, 25 fantasy points. LeGarrette Blount did work with 24 fantasy points, Marcel Reece had 21, and Darren Sproles also had 21. Quite a day for little-respected RBs.
WR: Mike Sims-Walker: MSW actually had his 2nd productive week in a row, craziness. He never does that. This time he went off, though, catching 8 balls for 153 yards and a TD – tied with Brandon Lloyd for 2nd best amongst WRs. Darrius Heyward-Bey (24) and Steve Breaston (23) also had big days from out of nowhere.
TE: Marcedes Lewis: Lewis continues to prove us wrong, catching touchdowns often – this week he was the 3rd best TE behind Jason Witten and Antonio Gates. Jacob Tamme (18) also had a big day in his “make like Dallas Clark” tour.
DEF: Green Bay Packers: The Pack shut out the Jets, thus walking away with the 2nd best fantasy day amongst defenses (23 in one of my leagues – the one we base this off). The Bucs also had a big day (21 points), and the Colts (18) sacked their way into the Top 5.
Fantasy Football Rankings: Fantasy Focus Week 7 REVIEW
October 26, 2010 by luckylester · Leave a Comment
Fantasy Football Rankings: Fantasy Focus Week 7
I thought it was the week of the running back – silly me – it was the week of the receiver. Aside from Darren McFadden’s huge day (47 points, 2nd overall) and Carson Palmer’s 30 fantasy points – the Top 8 was littered with Wide Receivers – yes, it was the week of the receiver. Kenny Britt took his first quarter benching well, to say the least, busting out 49 fantasy points like he was the big brother of every defensive back in Philly. Roddy White was only a couple yards, and fantasy points, behind Kenny – as Roddy threw out 45 fantasy points and over 200 yards. Roddy is a beast. But Lee Evans (3 touchdowns), Hakeem Nicks (beasted the Cowboys), David Gettis (big day, 2 scores) and Steve Johnson (the target machine, 29 fantasy points) made 6 WRs in the Top 8 fantasy performers for the first time all season. It wasn’t just top-heavy either – nope, all over the league receivers were doing work. 18 guys finished with 20 points or more in PPR leagues. 38 guys were in double figures. Nuts. The week of the receiver. Here’s how my predictions went down…
Elite Starters: Guys picked early that I love this week, looking for Top 5 at their position. C
- Chris Johnson –I should have listened to my match-up advice, but I didn’t and I paid. Johnson had just 66 yards on 24 carries – maybe that 2500 yard thing won’t happen after all? CJ had 8 fantasy points – boo me, boo him! F
- Frank Gore- Gore finished 7th with 19 fantasy points – rushing for over 100 yards on just 15 carries – makes sense, just give him the ball 19 times – morons. B
- Adrian Peterson – AP was 3rd amongst RBs with 25 fantasy points. He was a beast, but the Vikings should have kept going to him. A
- Steven Jackson – Ste-Jacks was 11th amongst RBs with 16 fantasy points, no touchdowns again for the Ram workhorse. B-
- Ray Rice– Willis McGehee actually outscored Ray, as Ray got just 17 touches in Week 7 – no wonder the Bills gae the Ravens so much trouble. But Willis actually ran well with his carries. F
A GREAT week for Running Backs, what can you do?
Solid Starters: Guys picked in middle rounds that should outplay their ranking/draft position this week. C-
- Kyle Orton– A couple late completions got Orton to 14th amongst QBs, but he was much worse than that. Say bad. C-
- Matt Forte– Matt was 21st, but Jay Cutler should have passed him the ball about 12 more times out of the backfield instead of throwing so many to DeAngelo Hall. 10 points for Matt. C-
- Wes Welker– 45th overall for Wes – the Patriots offense looked bad after the first half. Bad. D
- Kevin Kolb- The Eagles eventually got torched by the Titans, and Kolb will come back without the starting gig. F
- Steve Smith (NY) –Once again, SS went for over 100 yards and scored a TD against Dallas. They can’t guard him. A
Sleeper Starters: Guys ranked low, drafted low or not at all, but I still like them this week… A-
- Marshawn Lynch -Lynch finished 25th, running hard, but not breaking any big runs for the Hawks. I expected a better day. C-
- Jamaal Charles –Charles was alright, 13 fantasy points, 15th RB overall – his partner in crime, Thomas Jones, had a better week – but they ran all over the Jaguars. B-
- Carson Palmer– Palmer put up awesome numbers this week. #1 overall. You’re welcome. A+
- Dwayne Bowe -BEAST. Bowe went for 81 yards and two touchdowns, with just 3 catches on 5 targets. He bullied his way into the end-zone once. He’s moving up! 25 fantasy points for Bowe. A+
- Mike Williams (SEA) – 25 for Big Mike, too. This guy has great hands, and he’s looking better and better the more chances Matt gives him. A+
Super Sleepers: Undrafted guys that are usually unowned, but in a pinch put ‘em in coach! C-
- Jason Avant– 6 catches for 60 yards, he put up points for you, 12 of them, tied for 26th WR overall. B+
- Danario Alexander– He only had one catch, but even worse, he only had 3 targets… Uh Oh. F
- Colt McCoy– Oh, McCoy only had 4 points, but the Browns upset the Saints – that’s worth something, right? No, not really. F
- Patrick Crayton – Good day for those that picked up Crayton – but he had a couple punk routes, with a dumb throw to him where he didn’t even bother bending over. Weak. Still, 20th amongst WRs with 15 points. A
- Anthony Armstrong- Just 4 targets, but 2 catches for 42 yards for AA. Why didn’t Donovan go his way more? Well, the Redskins were running well, and the passing offense was turnover happy. D
Sit ‘Em Son: I don’t care where they were drafted, I don’t like these guys starting this week… A-
- Ronnie Brown (TB)–38th amongst RBs with 5 fantasy points. Yep, must sit. A
- Ricky Williams– Just a point worse than Ronnie with 4. A
- Chris Ivory– Hopefully you listened to me and didn’t get all getty over last week’s perfromance and start Ivory – he had 4 fantasy points. A
- Marion Barber– Barber didn’t total 10 receiving or rushing yards – he did have 1 catch and 6 rushing yards, though. So yeah, drop time maybe? A
- Ryan Fitzpatrick– Fitzy one-upped me, he said “sit me? how about #2 overall QB?” – he really got me there. I don’t know how, against a really good pass D in Baltimore, but he got me good. F-
***Humpty dumpty sat on a wall, humpty dumpty had a great fall, but he still felt sorry for Brett Favre.***
Well, I wasn’t close to last this week, busting out a fat 2nd place – but don’t they say 2nd place is first loser? I think that’s borderline BS in just about everything besides weekly fantasy rankings where all I really am is first loser. Red Red Ryan busted in with three 1st place position rankings, finishing #1 all by himself for what I think is the first time this year. But he still has red hair. But at least he has some hair. But it’s red… Tough call. Regardless, we pretty much hit the jackpot with receiver rankings this week as 3 of use finished with more than 88 points (and I didn’t have Roddy White or Kenny Britt – none of us had Britt, dang!) Anyway, here’s the rundown.

Who DID we Miss?
QB: Ryan Fitzpatrick: He was #1 in the QB realm, and he has been good since taking over. Maybe more than 5% of fantasy leagues should have this guy owned? Carson Palmer also put up great numbers (2nd QB in Week 7).
RB: Darren McFadden: Marshawn Lynch would describe McFadden’s style of play against the Broncos as BEASTMODE. McFadden went for 47 fantasy points – that was just 16 carries for 165 yards and 3 touchdowns rushing, and 2 catches for 31 yards and a touchdown receiving. BEASTMODE!
WR: Kenny Britt (49 points), Lee Evans (34 points), David Gettis (32 points), Dez Bryant (31 points), Steve Johnson (29 points): What can I say, the receivers ruled the world. The only guys in the top 7 that we did pick were Roddy White and Hakeem Nicks (2 and tied for 6th respectively)
TE: Jason Witten; How did we forget about him? I know that last 2pt conversion actually finished me off in a league this week.
DEF: Titans, Redskins, Bears: Nobody thought the Titans would lay it on the Eagles like that, but we were all stupid for ignoring the turnover fest that was brewing in the Redskins/Bears game. How gross was that? Those three went 1, 2, 3 for the week.

Fantasy Football Rankings: Fantasy Focus REVIEW Week 6
Well, Arse’s run at the top is over, but unfortunately it’s not me taking the title from the Arse, nope, this week belongs to Papa Weimer who absolutely killed it. He tied for 1st in QB rankings and got 2nd in WR rankings – everything else he took the top spot. He has the best overall week of the season, going for a final ranking’s total of just 6. 1, 1, 2, 1, 1 – that’s freaking awesome. Like I said, I didn’t win, but I didn’t finish last either. It was close, but Red Red Ryan and his three 4th place finishes (QB, RB, and DST) got him last place. Papa already sent out a gloating email when Chris Johnson scored that meaningless TD at the end of a slaughter game, but you all know how he loves to email!!! (Send fantasy questions to PAPAWEIMER50@HOTMAIL.COM) Heres the fantasy review!
We went and changed up the Focus competition this week. Instead of grading our scores based on rankings, we ranked everything out based on total fantasy points. It’s more fantasy realistic and more telling as to how we fared in our fantasy predictions.
Elite Starters: Guys picked early that I love this week, looking for Top 5 at their position. C+
- Peyton Manning –Peyton’s 300+ yards and 2 scores were good, but 9th amongst QBs. Still, his 22 points were just 4 behind the 2nd best QB in Week 6. B
- Chris Johnson- CJ’s 27 fantasy points (many of which came on a final drive that meant absolutely nothing) were good for a tie for 1st amongst RBs this week. A+
- Frank Gore – Gore had 149 yards rushing to get the 49ers their first win of the season, but he didn’t score and he didn’t catch passes – that gave him just 14 fantasy points – good for 15th. C
- Reggie Wayne – Wayne finished 32nd amongst WRs, but his 13 poits were just a fandful away from the Top 10. C
- Phillip Rivers– Rivers was oddly bad on Sunday. He lost Antonio Gates and Malcom Floyd in the game, but he wasn’t doing much wit them. Thee were 17 guys better than Rivers on Sunday. He tied with Bradford and Tom Brady. D+
Solid Starters: Guys picked in middle rounds that should outplay their ranking/draft position this week. B
- Kyle Orton– Orton wasn’t great, but he looked solid – he was 14th overall and continues to be as solid as any QB in the league. B-
- Ahmad Bradshaw– Bradshaw was 10th amongst RBs, and looked great running against the Lions. A
- LaDainian Tomlinson– Tomlinson found it tough sledding against a motivated Denver defensive front, but in the end, his 2 touchdowns were huge, as he stepped up the pace when he was needed most. He was 3rd amongst RBs on Sunday. A+
- Eli Manning- Eli was tied for 10th despite having a funny look on his face throughout the game. 19 fantasy points and a couple TDs. B
- Jay Cutler –He threw for 290 yards, didn’t throw an interception – but he still didn’t do all that well. He didn’t throw a TD, either, and was getting hit early and often by Seattle’s un-vaunted pass rush. D
Sleeper Starters: Guys ranked low, drafted low or not at all, but I still like them this week… A
- Johnny Knox -Over 100 yards receiving for Knox, still no TD yet, but 17pts was good for 14th amongst WRs. A
- Jamaal Charles –Charles got 16 carries and 4 catches and got over 100 yards of offense. He was 13th amongst RBs. A
- Ryan Torain– #2 going into Monday’s game. Pretty dang good. RT runs hard! A+
- BenJarvus Green-Ellis– He didn’t do much with his limited touches, amazing how all of a sudden he doesn’t get any love from his coach – but BJGE did score a TD on one of those carries, and accrued 8 points for 30th amongst RBs. C+
- Pierre Garcon – Garcon led the Colts in receiving, and finished with 4 grabs for 103 yards and a TD. Good for 9th Sunday. A+
Super Sleepers: Undrafted guys that are usually unowned, but in a pinch put ‘em in coach! B
- Cadillac Williams– Williams didn’t run all that well, but he was a threat out of the backfield, catching a bunch of passes. He finished with just 12 fantasy points, just 23rd on the day – but just 4 points away from a Top 10 week. B
- Derrick Mason- The old man did work, catching 8 balls for 100 yards (both season highs) a top 12 WR on Sunday. A
- Dwayne Bowe– Amazing day for Bowe. Does this mean he’s back? Over 100 yards, two touchdowns, maybe? A+
- Joshua Cribbs – Cribbs went down early and couldn’t come back with a minor concussion. F
- Anthony Armstrong- 9 fantasy points for AA, Top 44 amongst WRs – not a bad last second option. B
Sit ‘Em Son: I don’t care where they were drafted, I don’t like these guys starting this week… B+
- Mike Williams (TB)–I didn’t expect much and he didn’t deliver much. Probably not his fault, but his 8 fantasy points were good for 47th amongst WRs. A good sit. A
- Sam Bradford– Sam played a very solid game and got the win for his guys. He was just 18th but tied with Brady and Phil Rivers. Not bad company, but just 18th overall on Sunday. He threw one TD and didn’t toss one INT. B-
- Shaun Hill – Shaun Hill was playing well when he broke his arm. Not sure I would have been right but as is, I’ll take the injury solid play here. B
- Jahvid Best– GMen locked Best up pretty good, Jahvid had just 10 fantasy points. He also had 12 carries for just 16 yards. He’s a good player, but admit it, that was a terrible match-up. B+
- Peyton Hillis– Hillis wasn’t bad – his rushing totals looked like he played Pittsburgh, and he did, but he got to 14 fantasy points after a big catch week. C+
***The scoring has changed, but did the outcome stay the same? No, sir – with the scoring change went Arse’s rain at the top – you can still follow him @AlakanArse on Twitter.***
Week 6 didn’t see me at the bottom, close though. Papa takes the cake in Week 6, Arse loses his strangle hold – here are the fantasy rankings for Week 6.

Who did we MISS?
QB: Kevin Kolb: In Mike Vick’s absence Kevin Kolb has done work. This week he led all quarterbacks in fantasy points.
RB: Felix Jones and Ryan Torain both had a big week and were 5th and 3rd amongst RBs in Week 6.
WR: Jeremy Maclin, Dwaned Bowe, Deion Branch, Mike Williams: A good week for wide receivers – who ever thought the Deion Branch trade would work out for both sides? Mike Williams (yep, that USC MW) looked good as the #1 against that tough Bears D, and he led the Hawks to a win. Deion Branch was huge leading the Patriots in receiving during an OT win over Baltimore. Dwayne Bowe dropped having the drops, he was impressive with a couple scores, and was ranked 2nd headed into Monday Night. Jeremy Maclin took advantage of his own teammate going down, and he became the go-to-guy, catching 7 balls for 159 yards and a couple touchdowns from Kevin Kolb.
TE: Ben Watson; We should have known. The Browns weren’t going to be able to run, and Colt would find some solace in his big athletic Tight End.
DEF: San Francisco 49ers: The Niners did work and ousted the Raiders – that’s the D that Samurai Mike has been looking for.

Fantasy Football Rankings: Fantasy Focus Week 5 REVIEW
It wasn’t a good fantasy week for Ol’ Lucky, and the family blood line in the group didn’t do too much better. Red Red Ryan finished ahead of both of us, using his elite WR and TE rankings (he didn’t pick Finley, good move considering he got hurt) to get into 2nd. But he couldn’t out-do Arse, who continued to dominate the QB and RB rankings while getting a clinching 1st place in the Defense category to take home yet another title. We’re in Week 6 and already Arse has more weekly winners than he did all of last season. Speaking of last season, I remember that beautiful year, the year I was good at this stuff…. Oh, the good ol’ days. Back at the grind this week, we’ll see if I can’t get back on the horse!
Still giving it up to Arse (@AlaskanArse on Twitter) He plugs away three 1st place categories to take the LL.com fantasy weekly title again. Damn his heart of Alaskan winter time darkness – no wonder he keeps winning, he needs computer light to do just about anything up there…
Elite Starters: Guys picked early that I love this week, looking for Top 5 at their position. C-
- Peyton Manning – Boy, I’ve been headhunted by star QBs in my Top 5 overall. Manning had 7 points. What? F-
- Frank Gore- Gore finished 12th, but with just 13 fantasy points – he wasn’t on his game. C-
- Reggie Wayne – 13 fantasy points got him 28th WR overall – it was quite the day for WRs in Week 5. C
- Maurice Jones-Drew –MJD finished tied for 23rd with 10 fantasy points, another disappointing day for the star. D+
- Roddy White– Finished 8th overall, but with 23 fantasy points, this guy is as consistently good as the WR position gets. A-
Solid Starters: Guys picked in middle rounds that should outplay their ranking/draft position this week. B
- Cedric Benson –I said they’d have to stop him 25 times (23 carries, 2 catches – wow), and they did stop him, it just took a few yards. He went for 163 total yards, but not touchdowns. He was 6th overall. A
- Terrell Owens– TO is on fire, tied for 6th with 25 fantasy points this week. That’s 17 catches, 326 yards, and 2 touchdowns (with 27 targets) in the last 2 games. Doing work! A+
- Ryan Matthews – 36th RB overall on Sunday, continues to finish behind Tolbert (28th). D
- Eli Manning- The Texans’ secondary came through, at least the guy guarding Hakeem Nicks – Eli was the 6th QB overall. A
- Sam Bradford– If I hit Eli right on the nail, I hit this one right on my thumb. The rookie played like one, and it probably didn’t help that his main target when down for the year early in this one. F
Sleeper Starters: Guys ranked low, drafted low or not at all, but I still like them this week… B-
- Kevin Kolb -Kolb actually played pretty well, and ended up in the Top 15 amongst QBs. Not too shabby. B-
- Ryan Torain –He did finish with 10 points, tied for 23rd, but the Packers made it tough on RT. C+
- Brett Favre–Well, Brett took a while to get going, but once he did he was dropping bombs. He was good enough to finish in the Top 10, 9th actually. A-
- Lance Moore– Just one catch for Lance, that’s not a good day for my most consistent sleeper. F
- Brent Celek – His best week of the season, 6th amongst TEs. You’re welcome! A
Super Sleepers: Undrafted guys that are usually unowned, but in a pinch put ‘em in coach! D+
- Ladell Betts– 28th RB overall with 9 fantasy points, gave you something in a pinch – more than Matthews, DeAngelo, Spiller, Fred Jackson, Jon Stewart, Arian Foster, and Beanie Wells. B
- Fred Jackson- Fred Jackson had a decent day, but it was basically all rushing yards, and while it got him into he Top 30, it got him out. C
- Mike Bell– McCoy went and he went well, making this pick moot, but I’ll still take my F because Bell didn’t due anything. F
- Harry Douglas – HD finished with just 3 fantasy points, making him put a sleeper hold on himself. F
- Brandon Gibson- 2 catches for 34 yards, eh, even with Mark Clayton going down, Gibson didn’t do much. D-
Sit ‘Em Son: I don’t care where they were drafted, I don’t like these guys starting this week… F
- Larry Fitzgerald–20th overall with 16 fantasy points, a much better day than I expected. D
- Jabbar Gaffney– A hair better than Fitz, you never know who is catching balls for Denver. D-
- Chris Johnson – 90 yards and a score? Try 131 yards and two scores. I was dead wrong, never bet against Chris. F-
- Kyle Orton– Orton killed me again. Nothing, meaning no defense, can stop Orton’s passing attack. Top 5 again. Impressive. F-
- Jonathan Stewart– J-Stew finished out of the Top 35 RBs this week – you’re welcome. A+
***Patriots (minus Moss), Dolphins (hot off two losses), Steelers (with Big Ben back) and Seattle (with Marshawn Lynch in the study room) all have Byes, so don’t play their players!!!***
Week 5 didn’t get better. I finished 4th again, Arse won again, and I corrected my wife’s status on facebook only to make an error one day later and managed to get about 23 people correcting my typo. Dang it all to hell!

Who Did We Miss?
QB: Tony Romo (1), Ryan Fitzpatrick (4): I predicted Tony’s big day in the “Who Might We Have Missed?” category last week, too bad I still missed him! Ryan Fitz also had a big day for the Bills, even though they lost – but he was going up against the Jags, so write it off!
RB: Matt Forte (1) had another HUGE week, this time nearly all of it took place on the ground (as starting QB, Todd Collins couldn’t hit the ocean from the beach). His 34 fantasy points ranked him 1 in Week 5, and got him to 5th overall this season. LeSean McCoy fought broken ribs to get 5th (24 points) this week.
WR: Malcom Floyd (1), Brandon Lloyd (3), Percy Harvin (4): Floyd had another big week for the Chargers, but this one was HUGE!!! 8 grabs for 213 yards and a touchdown. Pretty good going up against Nnamdi Asomugha. Floyd ranks 7th so far this season. Brandon Lloyd continues to thwart doubters with awesome catches week in and week out. His 34 fantasy points ranked him 3rd this week, but his 110 fantasy points ranks him 1st overall amongst receivers. Percy had his first huge week of the season, and he made some amazing catches and runs to do so. If Brett Favre finds him on an 8 yard stop late in the 4th, not only do the Vikings probably win, but Percy easily eclipses the rest of the WR pack. Does Moss’s arrival signal big things for Harvin?
TE: Marcedes Lewis (1), Jason Witten (4): Lewis caught a couple touchdown passes to finish tied with Vernon Davis at the top of the chart – but Jason Witten finally sees his name back in Top 5 lists – I wonder if anybody will pick him next week against the Vikings?
DEF: Raiders and Lions: 1st and 2nd respectively. What can you say? Who ever thought a week would see the Lions in 2nd place only to be trumped by the Oakland Raiders. Unbelievable.
Fantasy Football: Week 4 Fantasy Focus REVIEW
October 7, 2010 by luckylester · Leave a Comment
NFL Week 4 had some crazy finishes, some last minute non-plays, and some great fill-in performances form the little guy. Get down like you do, here’s the fantasy focus review.
Elite Starters: Guys picked early that I love this week, looking for Top 5 at their position.
- Chris Johnson – Johnson finished outside of the Top 30 as the Titans lost to Denver. F
- Aaron Rodgers – Rodgers had 3 touchdowns in the first quarter plus, but it was all down hill from there. Still, he finished in the Top 10. Tied for 7th. C+
- Randy Moss – Not a single catch, traded. F-
- Mike Vick– Injured early. INC/F
- Brandon Marshall – 10 fantasy points, the Patriots owned the Dolphins on MNF. D-
Solid Starters: Guys picked in middle rounds that should outplay their ranking/draft position this week.
- Pierre Thomas –Oh, didn’t play, his “probably” became “got you, Lucky.” INC/F
- Terrell Owens– Best week he’s had in forever, 10 catches for 200+ yards and a TD. A++
- Joseph Addai – 22 points, #5 RB this week, despite the Colts’ loss to Jacksonville. A
- Beanie Wells- If nothing is a fantasy stat, Beanie was right next to that on Sunday. F
- Matt Ryan–Just 11 points for Ryan, barely finishing him in the Top 20. D
Sleeper Starters: Guys ranked low, drafted low or not at all, but I still like them this week…
- Louis Murphy -Not much for Murphy, outside the Top 60. F
- Michael Crabtree –Top 30 WR – 10 fantasy points for Crab, it’s only going to rise from here. C
- Lee Evans– It doesn’t pay to be a Bill, Lee’s text message to Marshawn Lynch: “Lucky!!!” F
- Lance Moore– Top 20, Brees likes this guy as much as I do. A
- Clinton Portis – He was on his way to his best week, 11 carries for 55 yards and 2 catches for 26, people are hating, and he’s out, he may be done, but he looked solid to me. Still injuries hurt. C-
Super Sleepers: Undrafted guys that are usually unowned, but in a pinch put ‘em in coach!
- David Garrard– DGs 24 points were tops amongst QBs, #1 in Week 4! A++
- Donald Brown- Brown wasn’t in the top 60 amongst RBs, that’s no good. F
- Sam Bradford– The Rookie was #7 amongst QBs, not bad, not bad at all! A
- Devery Henderson – Top 25 for Devery in the Saints near upset. 11 points. B+
- Jacoby Jones- 1 catch, 12 yards – Andre Johnson not playing didn’t help. F
Sit ‘Em Son: I don’t care where they were drafted, I don’t like these guys starting this week…
- Steve Smith–Smith got hurt late, but he didn’t have 4 fantasy points prior to that. A
- Andre Johnson– He didn’t play, but I take an F when a guy doesn’t play and I predicted a good day, so here, well, I get an A! A
- Mark Sanchez – A little better than I expected, but just 12th overall with 14 fantasy points. D
- Kyle Orton– Orton was tied for 3rd amongst QBs – not really what I expected. F
- Matt Forte– Like the rest of the Bears, Forte sucked this weekend. 12 carries for 26 yards, 2 catches for 7 yards. You’re welcome. A+
***And the competition must get graded!!!***
I still haven’t won since Week 1, and I’m not liking this business as much anymore. I’m not in the business of losing. That said, Josh continues to kill it, ranking #1 in QBs, RBs, and WRs – what we like to call the Big 3, but the big Arse continues to Hate just about everything – check out his new Hate/Hate article today! Hilarious. Anyway, hopefully Week 5 gets better, if not, it’s chicken sacrifice time – Pedro Cerano taught me that.

Who did we MISS?
QB: Nobody picked David Garrard – weird, but he finished #1. Shaun Hill (2) and Ryan Fitzpatrick (3) aren’t even owned in most leagues, let alone ranked in anybody’s top 5, but they represented. Kyle Orton and Carson Palmer also had solid fantasy days and tied for 5th.
RB: Despite breaking some ribs and being outed from his game against Washington, LeSean McCoy finished 3rd amongst RBs with 27 points – he was the only guy that didn’t make our Top 5s.
WR: Terrell Owens slammed the world with 40 fantasy points from the WR positions, that’s hard to beat. Calvin Johnson, Eddie Royal, and Davonne Bess all joined TO, and the one guy we did pick, Reggie Wayne, in the Top 5.
TE: Joel Dressen; He was the only guy in the Top 5 that we didn’t pick, and he had a great day against the Raiders, as Owen Daniels obviously isn’t 100%.
DEF: The Patriots scored 40 points, doing just about everything they could to destroy the Dolphins – it worked, block kicks, punts, defensive touchdowns, interceptions… It was bad for Miami. The Giants also were left off the board, and finished 3rd amongst Ds – slamming Jay Cutler’s gooey face on the turf 9 times.
Fantasy Focus REVIEW: Week 3 NFL Fantasy Football Review

Fantasy Focus REVIEW: Week 3 NFL Fantasy Football Review: Boy, did I ever hit some right on the head this week? Yeah, and I missed a couple to, all part of the business. But as always, I’ll throw out a review and throw anchor on both sides of the tide – this is how my fantasy picks did in Week 3….
Before I get into it, I’d just like to say that I’m sick of losing the writers’ pick-em contest, and I’ve only just lost the last two weeks. I won’t take it anymore, I don’t know how, but I’m going to set out to dominate this week.
Elite Starters: Guys picked early that I love this week, looking for Top 5 at their position.
- Matt Schaub – The Texans were bound to tumble, my bad here, Matt finished the 23rd QB. F
- Adrian Peterson– Nobody was as good as AP in Week 3, nobody. With 19 carries he busted out 36 fantasy points and was the #1 fantasy back in all the land. A+
- LeSean McCoy – On the other hand, McCoy wasn’t – fewer carries this week, 36th overall. F
- Andre Johnson– He played hurt, that was my mistake, 4 catches for 60ish yards. Blah. F
- Miles Austin – 4 measly fantasy points in Week 3, I was just as bad on top as I was great on the bottom of the Focus this week! F
Solid Starters: Guys picked in middle rounds that should outplay their ranking/draft position this week.
- Mike Sims-Walker – Is it Garrard? Is it the Jags? Is it Mike? Another let down week for him. F
- Terrell Owens– Despite 9 targets, TO had just 4 grabs for 42 yards. Either he’s not open or Carson is missing him, because he has just 14 catches on 33 targets through 3 games. That’s a bad ratio. F
- Darren McFadden – Not in the Top 10, but he’s rewarding the owners that gave him another chance – he was 11th amongst RBs in Week 3, 3 points behind #6. A+
- Matt Forte – 45th RB and he didn’t have much to do with Chicago’s win over GB. Ugh. F
- Mike Vick–#1 QB in Week 3. Freak of nature, this guy, a few of his throws were amazing. A++
Sleeper Starters: Guys ranked low, drafted low or not at all, but I still like them this week…
- Eddie Royal – Eddie had his chances, but got just 8 fantasy points. Blah. D+
- Jon Stewart –Stewart scored, but didn’t do much otherwise, he was outside of the top 30. C-
- Johnny Knox– Right on par with last season, just no TD. 94 yards and 22nd amongst WRs. B
- Austin Collie– I couldn’t have picked this one better, #1 WR in Week 3. A+++
- Felix Jones– He looked better, gong for 43 yards on 7 carries, but still just 4 fantasy points. F
Super Sleepers: Undrafted guys that are usually unowned, but in a pinch put ‘em in coach!
- Jason Avant– Lots of great plays by Philly WRs in Week 3, it just happened to be the two starters and not the #3 man. F
- Darius Heyward-Bey– Targeted 11 times, the Raiders’ OC was trying to make me a smart man, but DHB had just 3 catches for 49 yards, not too bad for a super sleeper option. C
- Ben-Jarvis Green-Ellis – 14th RB in Week 3 with just under 100 yards and a TD. A++
- TJ Houshmandzadeh – Still not part of the game plan in Baltimore – will he ever be? F
- Aaron Hernandez- The former Gator finished just outside of the top 10 at 12th amongst TE’s in Week 3 – his consistency is there. A-
Sit ‘Em Son: I don’t care where they were drafted, I don’t like these guys starting this week…
- Arian Foster– Hey I said he’d come back down to earth, get less than 15 points. He got 14. Still, his 100+ yards and 4 grabs were solid against a great run D, but I was right. B+
- Steve Smith– The Bengals were a real tough secondary match-up for SS and his rookie QB. I pegged this one right on the button. A+
- Josh Freeman – Free was the 30th ranked QB in Week 3, as I said, two good weeks, one bad. A+
- Larry Fitzgerald– 40th ranked WR in Week 3. Got 3 more points than I thought. A-
- Jamaal Charles– Charles had 17 fantasy points, proved me wrong, helped his Chiefs get to 3-0 for the first time in a long time. Missed here. D
***Week three, look into the stats and you will see, the winner of this week is me!***
I told you the luck of the Saints wouldn’t last forever. Missing a 29 yarder to win it is only the beginning – but shoot, hopefully I can get out of the way of that snowball next week, I took a tie for 4th with my big angry uncle, and watched those two buddies of mine steal 2nd and 1st. Congrats to Arse (follow him on twitter @AlaskanArse) who took 1st place for the 2nd time this season. Two for three ain’t bad, not at all…

Who did we miss on?
QB: Mark SAN-chez, or Mark Franchise, or just plain old Mark Sanchez was the only guy in the Top 5 that none of us ranked, and that makes two nice games for Mark in as many weeks.
RB: Peyton Hillis (2nd) keeps showing fantasy owners why it’s him getting the carries for Cleveland – and he did it against the Ravens, nasty. Ced Benson (5th) also carried the load a ton for Cincinnati, having his first nice performance of the season.
WR: We missed on a couple low-ranked guys; Austin Collie (1st, 41 fantasy points) went berserk. Lance Moore (3rd) made me look really good for my last “three for thursday” article. Brandon Lloyd (T for 5th) continued to impress with his biggest day in, shoot, maybe forever. Roy Williams (T for 5th) also did work, going for two big touchdowns to get Dallas their first win.
TE: Dustin Keller (1st) dropped 27 points on the Dolphins while Tony Gonzalez (2nd) had 25 to help beat New Orleans. Jeremy Shockey (3rd) also made a Top 5 list for the first time this season.
DEF: The Seahawks did work on the Chargers, mostly using Leon Washington’s vision/speed against one of the weakest kick coverage units in all of football.
