Thanksgiving Day Free Football Picks for the NFL

November 24, 2011 by

Happy Thanksgiving everyone and sincerely hope that you will join me today in taking the time to spend a moment thinking of the loved ones that can’t be with us today.

Green Bay Packers (-6) @ Detroit Lions
I really like the Packers to stomp the Lions. I know that the Lions are this “brand new” football team and that they are “ready to turn the corner” and all that good jargon – but in reality, they have turned the corner, and they are better, and maybe even a nice test for the Packers – but that just means they are better than 2-14 or whatever their average record has been over the last 7 years. I know they are better, and that front line is definitely talented – but how can a group of defensive linemen that good not stop the run? How can anyone stop the Packers? Haven’t seen it yet, and the Lions O still makes too many mistakes to beat Green Bay.

Miami Dolphins (+7) @ Dallas Cowboys
I like the Cowboys, and last week’s overtime win was a solid W for them because they couldn’t lean on the run-game that had been so good over the last few weeks. It’s nice to see they can win a game when plans don’t work out, as that hasn’t been something they’ve been real good at over the years. Still, I’m a little concerned about their defense and the Dolphins play a lot of close games, plus they’ve been playing really well lately. I expect a close one.

San Francisco 49ers (+3.5) @ Baltimore Ravens
The Ravens might actually be the better team, and the 49ers have been winning ugly quite a bit – but so what, the 49ers are definitely more consistent. I know that doesn’t always matter during a 1-week game, but consistency is a nice thing when you’re gambling. The Ravens have found a deep passing attack, and that could get the 49ers, but San Fran is so good at holding the ball. Tough one, for sure, but I’ll take the 3.5 knowing a field goal loss won’t oust me.
