Oklahoma State Cowboys VS Iowa State Cyclones: Friday Night NCAA Pick

November 18, 2011 by

Oklahoma State Cowboys (-27) @ Iowa State Cyclones (Fri)

I’m done underestimating Oklahoma State and 28 year old quarterback Brandon Weeden. He throws the rock like it’s his job, and at 28, he probably should have a dang job by now. But the guy’s still playing ball, trying to chisel out a career for himself, can’t knock him too much! The Cowboys throw up 52 per game and Iowa State isn’t’ in the business of putting up much more than 3 touchdowns. On Friday Night, in front of it all, I think the Cowboys will be just that much more impressive. I’ll be taking them as a BIG favorite. Nearly 4 touchdowns. But they can cover it!

The Cowboys have been ridiculous of late, and while the Cyclones have shown a history of fighting the big boys and making things interesting a couple times a year, the truth is that Iowa State shouldn’t be able to compete on the field with the Cowboys. The scary thing is, it’s obvious. 95% of experts polled are taking the Cowboys, and 70% of the public likes them as well. Is this just a big book loser? Oklahoma State has covered the spread in 8 of their last 9 games, so in Vegas’s eyes, they continue to overachieve. And while Iowa State hasn’t been an underdog this large all season, they’ve still gotten beat up by any team considered good. Baylor, Missouri, Texas, A&M, they all spanked Iowa State. The Cowboys are better than any of those teams, and did I mention their QB is 28 years old? I’m close to that and I’ve been out of school for years!!!

Anybody that can pull off still being in college to get your undergrad degree at 28 years old and be cool doing it probably deserves our bet! I bombed the first two games of the week, but I’m feeling pretty good about this one.
