UCLA Bruins @ Arizona Wildcats Thursday Night Football Pick

UCLA Bruins @ Arizona Wildcats Thursday Night Football Pick: There’s a lot of reasons to bet against both these teams (a definitely way to lose money in this situation – the vig will get you!). I’d like to explore a good handful of them.

Let’s start with the Wildcats, a team that can put up points, but hasn’t been able to stop anybody with that very young defense. So that’s reason 1, they can’t stop anybody – usually a tell tale sign for betting against a team. Reason 2, they’ve been so bad that they got their head coach (a Stoops) fired after last weeks loss. Losing your head coach doesn’t usually help the cause, unless your head coach was Wade Phillips. Reason 3, despite throwing the ball pretty well, the Wildcats have had a hard time translating yards in the passing game into points. Usually if a team throws the ball a lot and they don’t score that often, you bet against them.

Now for the Bruins. Their coach is about to be fired, and he’s Rick Neuheisel (which might be two reasons to bet against a team). I mean, dead end coaches (lame duck is what I meant to write) rarely get their teams to give the effort needed to get them back in good graces with the people that decide things. So, despite being bad, which is what the Bruins are despite their 3-3 record, they have a soon to be fired coach calling the shots. Also, the Bruins are 3-3, sure, but their best win was at home to Washington State. Yeah, basically, 3-3 is just a product of their easy schedule and that’s a great reason to bet against a team.

It ends up with Arizona being the bet, because, well, at least they don’t have a lame duck coach – at least not that we know of for sure. This new interim guy might be alright in terms of motivating factors.

What a Thursday Nighter!!!
