I’ve been known to be a loaner from time to time as far as underdog picks go, and while it makes me look like a dink here in there, most of the time it has me super-manning-up. I saw the line, looked at my numbers, and I came up with the Owls looking like a 22 point dog. Well, as is, nothing else considered, I’m getting 6 more points in spread, so I have to take the Owl. Then I look at my other numbers, and I get happier about the whole damn thing. Of the expert sites that I look at for some numbers, I see 13 picks for Rice and 0 picks for my side! Awesome! Of the public percentage that I see, I see just 24% going with the Owls and 76 big ones going with the home team big favorite. Yes sir, I feel good about this one.

Aside from “Experts” and the public riding far away from me, the fact that Rice hung with Baylor for a while, putting up 31 points of their own, makes me feel pretty good about this one. Houston and Baylor have a lot in common and I think Baylor’s better than the Cougars – so… Yeah, the math adds up.

I know that Houston beat Marshall 63-28 while Rice lost to Marshall by 4 – yeah, I know, tough one to ignore – but I’m going to write that off as just a bad game for the Owls. Rice can score and Houston allows big points. I like the 28 points I’m getting.
