New York Jets @ New England Patriots: Free Week 5 NFL Pick

New York Jets @ New England Patriots: Free Week 5 NFL Pick: This game is always a good one. The Jets and the Patriots know how to go at it, and when the beating is on, neither team ever seems to let up. When it was Eric Mangini coaching the Jets, the former Patriots assistant for Bill Belichick, the rivalry got real tense – especially when Mangini seemed to be the leak on the Spy-Gate situation. Now that he’s gone, the rivalry hasn’t simmered one bit. Rex Ryan knows who’s boss in the AFC, and therefore he loves to come out and talk junk and claim lots of this and that. Bill Belichick wants his guys to shut their mouths, play football, and win on the field. These two teams are opposite, but both pretty damn good.
With that said, the Patriots have been the much better team so far this year. The Jets look lost offensively, and defensively they haven’t been as consistent as they’ve been in the past. They’ve still been solid though, don’t get it tweaked, last week’s beating handed down by the Ravens wasn’t because they played poor defensively – it was that offense giving up more points than they did.
Tom Brady is on point, and you can bet he’s ready to give everything he has to oust the Jets after New York sent the #1 seed home early in last years’ playoffs. But I just feel like 10 points is too many, and that the Patriots defense isn’t good enough to completely shut down the Jets. The offense will get some momentum in this game, and maybe the running game will pick up. If that all happens this game will be closer than 10.
