NCAA Football Predictions: 2011 Week 5 Free College Football Picks

October 1, 2011 by

Free picks for Saturday, October 1st 2011 – NCAA Football Picks

Arizona Wildcats (+13.5) @ USC Trojans

These teams are about even in my book. Arizona can’t play much defense, but right now the Trojans aren’t taking advantage of that – they are struggling. Arizona will put a game together one of these weeks and surprise somebody – I think that’s this week in Southern California. Eventually, I think the Trojans pull it out – but not before the Wildcats lock away the cover.

Michigan State Spartans @ Ohio State Buckeyes (-3)

Both of these programs are down a bit, but don’t buy the Buckeyes’ escape from the Top 25 as an example of the talent they have. They are still the more talented team between these two, and I think Saturday won’t be much of a game at all. If the Buckeyes don’t win by double digits I’ll be surprised.

Clemson Tigers (+7) @ Virginia Tech Hokies

The Tigers are a good football team. Virginia definitely has the name and the history and the game, but these Tigers are good in more places than you think. Defensively they’ll make Virginia Tech earn it. Bottom line; these teams are more even than a touchdown line insists – gotta take the points here.

Washington Huskies (+7.5) @ Utah Utes

I don’t know what I’m doing here. I’ve been won over by the Dawgs I guess. They sure are talented at the skill positions, and if they just ride Mr. Polk, they can find a win in Utah. If they can’t stay in it offensively, it will be a blow out and I’ll tack on a loss.

Alabama Crimson Tide (-3.5) @ Florida Gators

The Gators have been pretty good against bad teams, but what about one of the best defenses in the country? I know I mentioned that Alabama was a little overrated in their secondary, but shoot, their youngsters are proving me wrong. I’ll take Alabama against anyone if they’re only giving a field goal or so.

Nebraska Cornhuskers @ Wisconsin Badgers (-9)

Nebraska is very solid, but they are a little one dimensional. The Badgers can do it all and I see them finishing a top the Big 10, and if they win this game, maybe a top the Nation as well. They can run the ball on anyone, and they’ll have no trouble putting up points on the Cornhuskers.
