NCAA Football Free Picks: Week 6

October 8, 2011 by

Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles (+2.5) @ Navy Midshipmen
SMU can put up some points, and the more I looked at this game, the more I believed they should be the favorite. I know Navy has taken steps forward in the College Football realm, lately, but Southern Miss looks like the team to beat in this match-up.

Colorado Buffaloes (+29.5) @ Stanford Cardinals
Colorado can make some big plays, and that being said, I think they keep this one closer than 30 points. Plus, if it is a 4-touchdown game, I get a couple little bonus points to play with.

Ohio State Buckeyes @ Nebraska Cornhuskers (-11)
I didn’t want to believe that one year and a couple players meant Ohio State was a completely different football team, but that is exactly what has happened. The Buckeyes’ offense can’t move the ball at all, and their defense isn’t good enough to make up for that. Nebraska isn’t awesome defensively, but OSU has made most defenses look elite, and Nebraska doesn’t need that much help. Take the Cornhuskers despite the seemingly large spread.

Washington State Cougars (+4) @ UCLA Bruins
It’s amazing – I remember a few years ago when Washington State was my auto pick-against for the win. Those were the good ol’ days, lots of Cougar jokes were shared, and money was won at the expense of the boys from Pullman. But this is a different team, and the change has certainly run full motion. The Bruins, they are on the other side of change, and thus will probably get beat at home by the lowly Cougars. Oh what a difference a couple years make.
