Free ATS Football Picks for Week 6 of the 2011 NFL Season

October 16, 2011 by

San Francisco 49ers @ Detroit Lions (-4)
Both of these teams have been very impressive through the first few weeks. Detroit gets more publicity for their air attack, but the 49ers have probably been more consistent – sporting one of the best run-defenses in the league. But they aren’t as good through the air, something the Lions are very efficient in taking advantage of. I think they do just enough to oust the 49ers by a touchdown or so at home.

Philadelphia Eagles (pk) @ Washington Redskins
The Eagles haven’t’ found a way to get their talent to consistently produce during games – and thus they are staring at a pretty poor record going into Week 6. 1-4 isn’t good enough, not for a team that put millions into free agency over the offseason. Michael Vick has been beaten and battered early and often, and his turnovers are beginning to become common place. But I think they turn it around, shoot, I have to be right one of these weeks. Still, will the Eagles ever slow down an opposing rushing attack?

Indianapolis Colts (+7) @ Cincinnati Bengals
The Bengals have a very good defense and a pretty basic offense that makes a couple big plays per game. The Colts have looked better offensively of late, but they aren’t great defensively. Still, 7 points is about 4 too many to every make the Bengals cover – so the value pick is on Indy.

Houston Texans (+8) @ Baltimore Ravens
The Houston Texans are pretty beat up, but even with some missing links here and there, this is still an improved team over the last few years. In a tough road game I expect them to come out and fight, and get some big plays happening against the tough Ravens defense. I expect a closer game than 8.
