Kansas City Chiefs @ Detroit Lions Free Football Pick: I originally penciled in the Chiefs here, seemed like good value – but boy the Chiefs looked disgusting when I went over their game, and now they lose their best young player in a secondary that was already looking bad in Week 1 – Berry is gone for the year. I think 8 is a ton of points to give up, especially for a Lions team that really hasn’t proven much besides a win in Week 1. Still, when put between a rock and an oak tree, I’m gonna have to go with the team playing well, healthy, and looking confident since the beginning of pre-season. That’s not KC!

The Chiefs definitely overachieved last year, winning 10 games, winning the AFC West and going to the playoffs after many picked them to win fewer than 6 games. Well, after overachievement usually comes underachievement. The Chiefs have trotted around this season like a team that is fat and happy. Now they lose their best defensive player (at least in the secondary), and things aren’t looking so good. The pre-season struggles weren’t just a show, this team doesn’t look right and it all starts with Matt Cassel. The former Patriot just struggles to put the ball down the field, and the Lions are going to gang up on the line of scrimmage.

I HATE picking the Lions as an 8-point favorite, but Matthew Stafford is really locked in, he has been the opposite of the Chiefs since Camps started about a month ago. It’s risky, and I’m not wild about it, but I’m taking the Lions here.
