Central Florida Knights @ Brigham Young Cougars Friday Night Football Pick

Central Florida Knights @ Brigham Young Cougars Friday Night Football Pick: A lot of people are going to wonder what I’m up to here – I mean, BYU was ranked in the pre-season and they have a lot of promise. Also, it’s tough to look at their 1-2 record and blame them – they’ve had a tough schedule to start the season, playing at Mississippi then going to Texas then drawing Utah in their first home game. Those are three very tough programs, and to walk away with 1 win isn’t bad at all.

Still, I’m not overly impressed with the Cougars, and have been claiming their preseason hype to be a little off base. They really didn’t beat a good football team last season, and it’s not like they are chalked full of incoming All-Americans.

South Florida whooped up on the ACC’s Boston College before struggling to put points on the board against Florida Atlantic, losing 10-17 in a game in which they were favored by a touchdown. That was Central’s only road game of the year so far, and they didn’t look ready away from home. I’m hoping they turn that around in this one.

The biggest reason for my trust in Central is their ability to run the football teaming with BYU’s inability to stop the run – Texas outrushed the Cougars by 123 yards and Utah did the same, but by 231 yards. BYU can throw it a little bit, but the Knights are underrated all over the football field – they are the better team, getting points – easy enough for me.
