North Carolina Tar Heels vs Duke Blue Devils NCAA Basketball Preview & Pick

North Carolina Tar Heels vs Duke Blue Devils NCAA Basketball Preview & Pick: There’s something about Carolina/Duke that just screams college basketball, elite rivalries, two teams that historically couldn’t be more different in terms of how they go about winning, but very even in actually winning. These are two of the most consistently dominant college basketball programs of the last 25 years. Almost everyone has a side, picks a team to root for, and why not – if you love sports, this rivalry is impressive. Duke has been very good for a while now, and they have definitely been taking it too the Tar Heels head to head – but North Carolina is coming in hot, ranked in the Top 25 since very early in the season. Duke has a couple losses to their name, and they lost a freshman of the year candidate in Kyrie Irving – but they still have the firepower to step on the Heels. Even Roy Williams (NC’s head coach) knows the scarier team wears deep blue. He just wants to play better on Wednesday Night, something they definitely have a chance to do. Both teams have just one conference loss, and this game will go a long way in helping decide the ACC. I feel like I should take the been-there Blue Devils over the upstart Tar Heels, but 10.5 points is too much for me, especially in a rivalry game of this magnitude.
The Tar Heels, even with the recent “quitting” of Larry Drew, look like a team that can score with anyone. They have some solid bigs, and wings that can put the ball in the basket. Foul trouble might play a role in this one, but it should be a good one at Coach K Court.
#21 North Carolina Tar Heels (+10.5) @ #5 Duke Blue Devils (2/9)
