Washington Redskins @ New York Giants Free Pick & Preview

Washington Redskins @ New York Giants Free Pick & Preview: You can still get the .5 at a couple books, and I’m saying that’s a better bet. The Giants play close games, especially late in the season when they are usually bad. I know they have been bad lately. They were bad for 3 quarters last week, maybe a little longer, but the Jaguars still ended up giving the Giants a victory. Nice when you can be bad for 3 quarters, after being bad for two straight games before that, and play one good quarter and win. The Jaguars, such a kind team led by a kind man, Jack Del-Rio.

The Giants are always a streaky team. When they are playing good, they look like the best team in football. Defensively they dominate at the line of scrimmage and put more pressure on opposing quarterbacks with just 4 down linemen than any other team in the league puts on QBs with heavy blitzes. Eli is accurate and he lets the talented WR corps make big plays and the running game is physical and consistent. When they are bad, Eli is a turnover machine, they get blocked fairly easily, the running backs fumble and don’t get chances because they are behind, and the secondary takes terrible angles everywhere.

Like I said, they had been in that streaky bad phase, and I’m not sure if they got out of it against Jacksonville in the 4th quarter or they’re still there. I know this is a divisional game and likely Washington’s season. A 5-7 team won’t end up winning the NFC East, that’s almost a promise – so they better get to 6-6 in a hurry. Will they? Probably not – but they’ll keep it close. Getting a whole touchdown in this game makes it easier.
