Washington Redskins @ Jacksonville Jaguars Point Spread Pick

Washington Redskins @ Jacksonville Jaguars Point Spread Pick: The Redskins are 6-6-2 ATS this year despite their 5-9 record. There seems to be a rumor going around that they get throttled game in and game out, but their -5 average point differential isn’t too bad – just 2 points different than the Jaguars. The bad news from Washington just about every single week has a lot to do with our perception of that team, and when it comes right down to it, they aren’t nearly as terrible as we suspect.

The Redskins have stuck close their opponents in most of their last 5 weeks. They beat Tennessee by 3, lost to Minnesota by 4, got throttled by the Giants, lost to Tampa by a point and fell in Dallas by a field goal. At least the Cowboys and Bucs are a couple pretty solid teams, and it’s not like anybody on that schedule was a gimmie. They play good enough to stay close, and I think that’s an easy enough task here. They are getting played like a bottom tier team in this one, and I’m not sure the Jaguars are good enough to be giving a touchdown against anyone. Both defenses struggle, and Rex Grossman looked good last week, I don’t know why to think he won’t do it again.

The Jaguars need a win bad, and they’ve been a pretty solid bet down the stretch here, winning 5 of their last 7 games and covering the spread in 6 straight before losing in Indianapolis by 10 points. I always say they fade late, and I’m continuing to bet on that after having a slip last week.
