Washington Huskies @ Washington State Cougars Pick & Preview

Washington Huskies @ Washington State Cougars Pick & Preview: This game came out at +9 and it took a quick dive and now can be played at 5.5 or 6 at most books. 72% of the public thinks the Huskies are going to walk out of Pullman with a cover, every expert on Covers that made a pick took the Huskies as well. I don’t think the value is with the road team in this one – and neither do the books. Think about it, the spread started at 9, the public started going for the Huskies hard, and the line dropped like a rock all the way to 6.
At the beginning of the season, with Jake Locker in the Heisman talks and the Cougars losing everything, there was nobody in the state that thought the Cougars would have a swinging chance against the Dawgs. But times have changed, and even though the betting public doesn’t think the Cougars have a chance, everyone else sees how similar these two teams have become despite what the record shows. The Cougars allow a few more points and score a few points less than UW, but toward the end of the year, these two teams have been awfully similar.
The Cougars won against the spread in 6 of their last 7 games, finally getting a Pac-10 win with a 31-14 trouncing of the Beavers at Oregon State. They also had two weeks to prepare for a Huskies offense that doesn’t have a very complex offense. UW’s talent is better, but the Cougars can throw the football and the Huskies give up a lot of big plays.
A win for the Dawgs sends them to a bowl game, something they haven’t done since King Jake brought his talents down I-5 to the University of Washington. Just a little added flavor to the most important game the state has to offer every single year. I’ll take the points.
Washington Huskies @ Washington State Cougars (+6.5)
