While New Orelans is definitely playing good defensively, their offense hasn’t been anywhere close to the team they were during their point-fest last season. The Saints are putting up just 25 points per game, and that’s after scoring 30+ in four straight games against Carolina, Seattle, Dallas, and Cincinnati. I know Dallas is playing better of late, but they are far from a dominant defense and the other teams leave a lot to be desired.

Looking at their 30+ point efforts and their five straight wins, I can see why people are claiming that the Saints are back. But if you look closer you’ll see the Saints didn’t play that well against Seattle, got out-played by Dallas, and won in Cincinnati because the Bengals jumped offsides to give them 4 more downs inside the 5 with just ticks left. How dare they take advantage of the Bengals’ ability to lose at all costs.

The Rams are a solid team – not good, I mean, they are in the NFC West, nobody in the NFC West is good – but they are solid. They play well on both sides of the ball, and that’s because they rarely give up big plays and they don’t kill themselves offensively. The Rams give up just 19.8 points per game. I think this one stays close, even with the Saints aggressive defense – the rookie, Sam Bradford, keeps his team in it.
