Rutgers Scarlet Knights @ West Virginia Mountaineers Point Spread Pick: The Knights of scarlet hue have gone through a tough season – losing lots of games by just a few points, and, right now, ending the season on a 5 game losing streak. Yikes. The last two have been pathetic… Cincinnati slammed the Knights 69-38. Louisville planted a 40-13er on them. But before that it wasn’t all that bad, and I’m betting on the last game from the Knights being closer to the first 9 than the last 2.

First of all, the Scarlet Knights are only giving up 4 more points per game than they’ve scored, and at 4-7 there has to be some close games going there. How about losing by 3 to Syracuse, 1 to South Florida, 3 to Tulane, and 4 to North Carolina. Tough deal. Before the game against Cincinnati, the Knights had not given up more than 4 touchdowns in any one game all season. That alone makes them a nice bet at +20.5, if nothing else.

West Virginia is a pretty good football team and they’re on a bit of a roll lately, beating both the teams Rutgers just got beat by, and slamming Pitt to make it a 3 game winning streak heading into this game. I just think this one is closer because Rutgers isn’t as bad as they’ve played the last two and West Virginia will likely come down a couple notches after taking it to Pitt last week.
