Oregon Ducks @ Oregon State Beavers Week 14 Free Pick

Oregon Ducks @ Oregon State Beavers Week 14 Free Pick: Oh boy, I’m looking at some games where I’m riding the favorite, and it’s going to be a breeze or a weekend full of pulling out my hair – the little bit of hair that I have left. (Yes, coaching sports and sweating out wins and taking tough losses has done wonders for my hairline!). Anyway, this Ducks game will be no different. This game is always a crazy one. History says I’m a moron for taking the big time favorite. First of all, a spread has never been this big for a “Civil War” game (at least not in the last 10 years) and second of all the underdog has covered in each of the last 4 seasons, and upsets happen all the time in this battle. They say throw out the records when these two teams play, and since I’m all about throwing out records just about every time any teams play, I’m agreeing here.

But with records gone, and history taking a back seat to reality, I don’t see any way the Beavers will stick with the Ducks. Maybe for a quarter or a half, but like most of Oregon’s games, the Ducks will find a way to make it a blowout at some point.

The only games that Oregon failed to win by at least 17 points were Arizona State and Cal. Two games all season long. The Beavers have played good football once in the last 4 weeks. They lost to UCLA (who is terrible) then lost to Washington State (who has a single Pac-10 victory), beat USC 37-7 (that’s their good football game) and lost to Stanford 38-0 in a comic-strip game where the football was pulled out from under the Beavers around just about every turn.

Oregon runs the ball as well as anyone in the country. Oregon State stops the run as poorly as anyone. The Beavers aren’t’ explosive. This game won’t be close. I don’t care what history says.
