Dallas Cowboys @ Arizona Cardinals Christmas Day NFL Free Pick: This spread isn’t great, but the Cardinals are just horrendously bad. I know every team in the NFL gets up to play the Cowboys, but Dallas has been playing pretty good football of late, and the Cardinals’ only win in the last 9 games came against Denver a couple weeks ago, and let’s be honest, the only team that might be more disjointed than Arizona right now is Denver. But that doesn’t mean Arizona is good. They are bad.

The Cardinals haven’t finished with more rushing yards than any opponent they’ve played in the last 10 games. They’ve been out-gained in total yardage in all 9 of those non-Denver games, and this is for a couple reasons. A- They cut the only quarterback on the roster that was anywhere close to being an efficient signal caller. They cut him because the head coach didn’t really like him. Nice. B- They can’t run the ball at all. C- They can’t throw the ball either. D- They are on their 3rd quarterback this season and his name is John Skelton. He is a rookie, and has yet to throw a touchdown pass in his brief time taking snaps in the desert. And finally, E- They can’t stop anybody with their porous defense. This is because they let all their good players walk because they didn’t want to pay them, and they filled out their roster with guys that aren’t as good.

Obviously the Cowboys haven’t been dynamite since Jason Garrett took over, but they’ve been solid – playing close with good teams and beating the two bad teams (Washington and Detroit, though they’ve played tough against a lot of teams). Since Garrett took over, the Cowboys are 4-2 with wins over Detroit, Washington, the New York Giants, and the Colts. They’ve lost to New Orleans and Philly by a field goal per contest. I’m not saying that they are great, but they are still good, and they won’t have to stop the Cardinals all that often to easily cover this game. I think they win by a couple touchdowns or three.
