Arizona Cardinals @ Carolina Panthers Free Point Spread Pick

Arizona Cardinals @ Carolina Panthers Free Point Spread Pick: What a battle of terribles. In years’ past I actually enjoyed watching games like this, to see how bad it could be, but this year I think I’ll pass – not because it won’t be interesting, and I know I may be passing up the chance of seeing a youngster take a step toward being good, but because I don’t think this will be a good game. I think it’ll be lopsided, actually.

And get this, I think the Panthers are going to be the team winning by a couple touchdowns. Paint me crazy, but the Panthers defense isn’t nearly as terrible as they are said to be – most of their bad stats coming from spending most of a game on the field because their offense hasn’t been able to move the ball all season long. Well, that offense is starting to run it a lot better behind Jonathan Stewart and Mike Goodson. Having Jordan Gross in there has been good, and both Stewart and Goodson have been running like the offense depends on them. That physical style of play hasn’t been good for the Cardinals this season, and I think it gets them again.

Despite not being able to throw with any kind of consistency, Jimmy Clausen has been looking better when I’ve accidentally caught glimpses of him. He was bad last week, but the week before he was ok, and the week before that he drove his team down the field and gave their field goal kicker a chance to get it done. He didn’t and they lost, but still, Clausen might be figuring it out a little bit. Remember, he’s a very young kid.

I just think the Cardinals are terrible on both sides of the ball. They can accidentally make a big play here and there, and they have some great players, but the Panthers are solid enough defensively to win this game… I think… ugh.
