Washington Huskies @ California Bears Week 13 College Football Picks: Both of these teams have spent a better part of the football season disgusting me, and it’s not because I’ve lost a lot of money on them, it’s just because they can’t seem to play any sort of consistent football against anyone. It’s DISGUSTING!!!
Take the Cal Bears for example – when they focus and get right down to it, they can go take Oregon to the brink. The can be within a final play field goal of beating the #1 team in all the land by a point. The played awesome defensively, focused, strong on the lines, fast – everything – it was impressive. But they just so happen to be the same team that gets throttled by Oregon State and USC and Nevada. And after they just fell short against Oregon, they followed that up by letting each and every Stanford Cardinal walk by and kick them in the teeth. Graphic, maybe, but how else do you describe what happened in that 48-14 beat-down?
But it’s not like the Huskies have been much better. They can give anyone a run, it seems, just not the best teams like Oregon or Stanford. But they win at USC, beat Oregon State by a point, then absolutely run over UCLA like the Bruins were a high school team. They also lost to BYU.
What to make of the Dogs, I don’t know – but when they needed a win to stay Bowl eligible, they dominated UCLA on both sides of the ball – and their super star quarterback didn’t do anything in that game. That means something to me – and while they do play their next two games on the road, and two wins seems like a long shot because they’ve won just once away from home all season long, I think the Dawgs give the Bears a run in Cal.
