Houston Texans @ New York Jets NFL Betting Free Picks: This seems like a “Hard Knocks” line to me. What does the silly man mean by this statement? Well, I don’t think the line would be more than 4 if the Jets hadn’t been thrown all over HBO’s “Hard Knocks” series this pre-season, that’s what I mean. New York has been solid, and they are 7-2 good for at least a tie for the best record in football – but look at their history this season and you’ll see that they’ve played close games week in and week out – at least since they walloped Buffalo on October 3rd. Even then, the only other double digit win they’ve managed was against New England in Week 2.
Houston has a lot of offensive attack going for them. They can throw it (though they haven’t been as dynamic through the air this season as they were last year) and they can definitely run the ball with Arian Foster – he’s turned into a beast. Defensively, they don’t have much to offer, but the Jets aren’t the highest scoring team around, anyway. And lately, they just haven’t been all that impressive.
I know Cleveland and Detroit are better this season, and Denver can be streaky good – but New York needed overtime in each of the last two weeks to get by the Browns and Lions. Three weeks ago they lost 9-0 at home to Green Bay. And Denver just missed an upset, losing by 4 in Denver against the Jets.
Houston also hasn’t been one to get blown out. Dallas snuck in and got them 27-13 and the Giants beat them up 10-34, and the Colts sniped them 30-17. Other than that, it’s been all close games for the Texans. Two teams that play close games, I’m getting a touchdown with the dogs – I’ll take ‘em!
