Denver Broncos @ San Diego Chargers Monday Night Football Pick

Denver Broncos @ San Diego Chargers Monday Night Football Pick: I really don’t get it. Even if the Chargers do end up winning this game by more than 10 points, I still don’t get it. What in the world have they done to deserve being a 10 point favorite – against anyone, especially a team that has been able to throw on any secondary they come across. Please tell me where that makes sense. Was it their 6-point barely-win against Houston? Was it their touchdown win over Tennessee at home? How about their loss to New England, St. Louis, Oakland? Their loss to Seattle? Their opening day loss to Kansas City? It’s not any of those, huh? Well is it their 3-6 record or one of the worst special teams units in football? No, not those either. So you’re telling me there’s no reason they should be a 10-point favorite except that they are the Chargers and most seasons they’re good? Right.
So I’m picking Denver – because, well, it’s the only thing that makes any kind of sense what-so-ever. I know that San Diego is ahead of Denver in just about every single category known to football, both offensively and defensively, but Denver can still play, and they will test the Chargers secondary early and often.
The Broncos offensive line is finally healthy, and that’s a very good sign. They are coming off a great game last week where they jumped all over a solid Chiefs team – and while I certainly don’t expect 49 points again, I still think they have all the firepower a team needs to stay close with anyone. Going against a San Diego team that has been really good at finding ways to lose, and playing lots of close games – yeah, I like my Denver chances.
