San Francisco 49ers: 2010 NFL Draft Review & Grade

April 25, 2010 by

San Francisco 49ers: 1st round picks Anthony Davis and Mike Iupati were great but adding them to the 2nd round selection of Taylor Mays made this draft… brilliant, brilliant, brilliant!!! I think Mays could be one of the most dominant players in this draft, if they just play him at a position that doesn’t ask him to do the things he doesn’t excel at. He’s big, physical, ridiculously fast, ferocious as a tackler, and playing with a chip the size of California on his shoulder. I’m sure that Mike Singletary can’t wait to unleash this guy. Speaking of Singletary being excited, Davis and Iupati will allow Samari Mike to run the ball with Frank Gore like he wanted to last season. Davis is the guy I rated as the best OT in the draft, and Iupati was the best guard. Remember when the Jets did that a few years ago? Worked out alright for them. After the first two rounds, all great picks, they continued to perform thievery on my draft board. Navorro Bowman is a top 60 player for me, and they got him late in Round 3. His talent outweighs the risk of his off-the-field issues, especially with Singletary in charge of the youngster. Dixon, in round 6, is another great deal. He’s a big, bad man – and should be a nice hammer to unleash while Gore gets a break. Their last pick, Adams, shows a solid skill set, and while he might take time to adapt to a higher level of competition, an elite small school guy is well worth the risk in the last round. A+ Back to the 2010 NFL Draft grading team list.
