Sunday NBA Basketball on ABC, ESPN: Cavs Vs Magic, Jazz Vs Blazers

February 21, 2010 by

Cleveland Cavaliers (+2) @ Orlando Magic (2-21: 1:00 PM ET – ABC): That whole Antawn Jamison trade that has been the talk of the league, well, so far no good for the Cavs. They lost against Denver on Thursday Night with Jamison sitting out and on Friday Night it would have been better for the Cavaliers if Jamison continued sitting out as the former Washington Wizard went a horrific 0-12 from the field off the bench against Charlotte in a loss. He did make 2 free throws though… But that’s going to change, Jamison is a very good player that should end up helping the Cavs get past the rest of the Eastern Conference and into the Finals. But we’ll see. One of their biggest challenges will be the Orlando Magic. This should be a good test for the Cavs.

While it’s tough to see Cleveland losing three straight (that almost never happens), they are running smack dab into a Magic team playing really good basketball. Vince Carter looks to have finally caught on, and is playing his best hoops of the season. And I wouldn’t be stunned if it’s Orlando that gets the East’s spot in the Finals. It will be tight. But this is one game, in the middle of the season, and I think it means a lot more for the Cavs. Sure, Cleveland has already beaten Orlando twice this season, and the Magic might seem desperate to get this game to get a win over their rival, but I see Lebron and company coming out to prove a point on Sunday on ABC, show everyone that they are the big dog in the East, and I know Jamison will be better on Sunday. I like them to win on the road.

Utah Jazz @ Portland Trailblazers (+1) (2-21: 10:30 PM ET – ESPN): This is another interesting game, not as high profile as the Cavs and the Magic, but big nonetheless. These two teams will be battling it out for playoff spots in the West, and both have some hurdles to get over. The Blazers have been ravaged by injuries, but adding Marcus Camby should help them up front. The Jazz just gave away one of their starters for money, basically, and it will be interesting to see how the team deals with that – sometimes that can really make a group reconsider the direction of the team.

Everyone knows how bad the Jazz are on the road, and Portland is pretty good at home. Camby should be more up to speed after a couple days with the team, as he’s a quick study. Roy should be a little healthier, and playing, and I see the Blazers pulling out the win at home.
